Sunsets and Plane Crashes

I’ve become quite fond of the view outside my bedroom window at sunset these days. It’s in just the right place, so I glance to my left past a certain hour, and the sky’s really stunning at times. I don’t have any kind of great panoramic view of anything but a few trees and a bunch of townhouses with old people in them, but the sky is really incredible more often than not. At some point, once I trade in some of the more useless crap around my home for some useful crap like a digital camera, I hope to start sharing some of these skies with you all.

The only problem I do have with the view is that the sky outside my home is part of a flight path, and whenever I see an airplane in the sky these days, no matter where it is, I expect to see it explode or crash or do something else horrible. No matter that I’ve never been an in-person witness to an air disaster. What I’ve seen on the television over the years is enough. Oddly enough, I’m not really afraid of flying in commercial aircraft. I am afraid of flying in smaller, private aircraft though, because I’m a musician, and we all know what happens to them in small aircraft. I ain’t goin’ out like my homeboy The Big Bopper, y0.
