My heart breaks when I think of what the folks, not just my friend George, but all the people who’ve spent time at Ground Zero in the wake of 9/11 (and my sister’s one of them, so while she’s healthy so far, don’t think that doesn’t cross my mind…) are enduring and might have to endure, not just in terms of health problems, but also in terms of callousness and neglect from the people who are elected to protect us from shit like this. Please, let there be a better resolution to all of this than we’re getting, and no, the PR effort that’s underway right now isn’t it.
