Day 20

Posted in Training. on May 29th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

24 Situps

5 minutes walking
1 minute jogging/2 minutes walking x 9
7 minutes walking (I took my time going home…)

Total Time: 39 minutes
Total Mileage: 1.97 miles (longest distance recorded yet!)

Now, granted, I am padding the distance a bit with the warm-up/cooldown walks right now (I’ll be dropping from 5 minutes to 3 on either end once I start adding 2 minute jogs, as that covers the distance from my door to the entrance/exit of my complex, now that I’m in better shape and walking faster; it used to take 5), but I’ve also gotten further into the course today than I had at any other point, even with 6 more minutes jogging (which, distancewise, typically matches up as about 12 minutes walking, about the length of my warmup/cooldown), so I’m just slightly ahead of the game now.

Breathing was fine (more than fine, really; I had maybe 1 or 2 minutes of jogging that were tough, and my breathing wasn’t labored at all by the time I was home), but shins were sore (they weren’t really recovered from Tuesday), and went from sore to that burning feeling I was getting right before the knee barked at me, so I’ll keep an eye on them. Iced them when I got home for 10 minutes, and they don’t feel great, but they do feel a lot better.

Saturday’s next, and from there, I’ll decide whether I want to go back to Mon./Wed./Fri. or stick with Tue./Thurs./Sat., depending on how much rest my shins need.

Yep, I’m bringing back an old favorite. Details coming as soon as I figure them out. In the meantime, email me if you have a specific username in mind, and if it’s available, I’ll add you to the waiting list.

Day 19

Posted in Training. on May 27th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

22 Situps

5 minutes walking
1 minute jogging/2 minutes walking x 7
10 minutes walking

Total time: 36 minutes
Total mileage: 1.73 miles

No running on Monday, because my sleep schedule was fuckin’ destroyed, and it didn’t allow for the time or energy to do it, so I did it today, and will run on Thursday/Saturday instead of Wednesday/Friday. It was about 6 degrees hotter here than it’d been so far, and humid, so I decided not to push my luck after jog #7. I at least matched my effort from Friday, and we’re expecting cooler weather later in the week (though it’s not going to be much cooler going forward until about September; I picked an interesting time of the year to start all this), so we’ll move forward on Thursday.

Shin pain is minimal now and my breathing through all of this was pretty good, considering, so the break served its purpose, and I advise you all to use Saucony Jazz sneakers only for walking/jobs with a lot of standing/casual needs. They’re great for that, but they’re not a running shoe, period.

Day 18

Posted in Training. on May 24th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

Totally got distracted from posting last night by scallops and a nap.

Situp Count: 18 situps

5 minutes walking
1 minute jogging/2 minutes walking x 7
5 minutes walking

Total Time: 31 minutes
Total Mileage: 1.65 miles

Worked out close to sunset, it was a really nice change of pace from daytime running, breezier, less annoying sun. Felt very strong on some of the running. Calf pain wasn’t that bad, breathing was mostly fine. Even took a phone call after run #4.

I think I’ll be sticking with the 5 minutes of warmup/cooldown walk until my minutes really start to get up there, and I’m also thinking that, unlike last time, I may do unbalanced times with the adds. In other words, before I took my break, I’d add a minute at the beginning, and a minute midway to try and balance out the running, but I’m thinking that I’m just going to add minutes at the beginning, 1-10, rather than 1, 6, 2, 7, and so forth, until I get strong enough to do otherwise.

Onward to next week.

Day 17

Posted in Training. on May 21st, 2008 by Scott Crawford

5 minutes walking
1 minute jogging/2 minutes walking x 6
5 minutes walking

Total time: 30 minutes (I got a little careless with clock-watching during the walking a couple of times)
Total mileage: 1.6 miles. This, I’m intrigued by, because, unless you allow for the extra time I tacked onto my walks (which totally could’ve done it), I was doing 500 feet a minute on the extra minute/2 minute stretch I added on, which averages out to around a 10 minute mile. I don’t think I was going that fast, honestly.

Breathing was good, no pain in knees or groin (quit laughing; I was SORE yesterday, should’ve stretched more on Monday), calves are a little sore but it’s mild compared to some of what I’ve felt.

Situp Count: 16

Onto Friday.

Please Share My Pain.

Not safe for anything, ever, and nothing will ever be safe again. Thanks a lot, “qDot”. There, are you happy now, ass? Put that in your Google ranking. Fucker.

Man, it’s nice to be seated adequately again.

Day 16

Posted in Training. on May 19th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

5 minutes walking
1 minute running/2 minutes walking x 5
5 minutes walking

Total time: 25 minutes
Total mileage: 1.2 miles (though this could be off, because I was holding my pedometer for a little bit.) Yay, pedometer.

Back at the beginning. It was cold, rainy, windy and miserable outside. And it was still great.

I was a little out of breath from doing it, I think, because my enthusiasm got the best of me a bit. Very mile shin pain, and toward the end, right where I hurt my knee last time, I felt some mild, dull pain in the same knee, but not the shot of pain I had a week and a half ago. I’ll have to be cautious with it, and perhaps temper my enthusiasm a bit.

Also of note: I started doing situps 5 days ago. My first day, I did 10, and I’m adding one situp a day (at 14 now) until I get to 100 or hit a wall with what I can do without any major discomfort. I figure this should help me get rid of my gut, and increasing it not by what I can push myself to do (I probably could’ve done a few more today), but slowly and gradually is a great way to handle it, same way as I’m going to with the running.

Onward to Wednesday. Good to be back.

I had two good ideas while I was out. Here’s the second.

Posted in My Big, Black Cock. on May 18th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

Second idea: after driving past someone who had that “DVD player with the screens in the headrests” setup in their SUV, I came up with a really awesome way to get arrested. What you do is get a couple of car seats, a few dolls that are about toddler-sized (baby dolls wouldn’t work, because you’d need to imply some measure of basic comprehension, and it’s easier to pull that off with toddlers), and a Max Hardcore DVD or three (just in case you’re driving around for a while before you get “noticed” and get bored of the first one). I think y’all can put the puzzle together from there. People inevitably end up trying to watch whatever’s on the car next to them’s screens (I consider the screens a safety hazard, honestly, and I kind of wish they’d require owners to have really good tinted back windows to operate them), and if they saw “kids” being exposed to…that…yeah, you can bet that the “report suspicious activity” number would get a buzz. You’re talking about one hell of a Fox News story there, as well as an interesting study in both psychology (exactly how long would it be before someone freaked out?) and privacy rights (I really don’t know a lot about what privacy rights an individual has in their car, beyond the whole “can’t search the trunk without permission” bit). In addition, I think it’s possible that you’d see some laws created or changed about the use of those screens.

Yeah, I get bored in the car sometimes.

I had two good ideas while I was out. Here’s the first.

First, and I preface this by saying that, while I kid a lot and sometimes let some pretty out there, violent thoughts get voiced when I’m frustrated or angry, I’m actually not a violent person, but…I feel that it’s high time that we find whoever’s responsible for the Axe line of products (body spray, body wash, etc.) and put them through the slowest, most excruciating, embarrassing horrible, public execution possible. I know a lot of y’all, particularly the ladies in the audience, have been with me on this for a while because of the advertising campaign, but for me, it’s all about that fucking awful stink. I swear to fuck, I’m going to start telling people to go take a shower when I run into it, and I think the person who created it, ordered its creation, or signed off on it (behind every horrible decision, there’s one person crucial to it) needs to be punished.

Hey, remember that “Best Albums Of 2007″ post I’ve been promising you for months?

Posted in My Big, Black Cock. on May 15th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

Well, it’s actually getting closer to happening. I haven’t abandoned it, because we’re, well, halfway into 2008. If anything, I think it’ll be better because I haven’t rushed it. I’ve got it down to 20 albums, all of which I need to spend a little more time with. I will have it done by June 30th, or perhaps a good deal before. Thanks for your patience.

In the meantime, to stir a little speculation as to who I’ll include, and reward those of you who have been patient about this “best of” list, I’ll list 5 artists here, and it’s up to you to guess which one is definitely not on the nearly-final list as of right now:

Britney Spears
Scorpions
Radiohead
Tuxedomoon
Skinny Puppy

Email your guesses to suck@mybigblackcock.com (do not comment on this site or LiveJournal, or you will be disqualified!), and the first correct answer gets a RARE “Scott Crawford Owns My Soul” pin! These pins are not currently for sale, and I still haven’t gotten around to bugging their creator about buying rights to the original pin design from them, so there are about 12 or so on Earth that aren’t spoken for or bootlegs at this point! Contest open to residents of North America (sorry, but my last name ain’t Pitney-Bowes, foo’!) who don’t already own one of these pins (give someone else a chance to be pwned, foo’!). Let the games begin!

How To Send Me A YouTube Link

Posted in Man, fuck those guys., My Big, Black Cock. on May 14th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

1. First, describe what I’m about to see in a little detail. Acceptable: “This is a video of Winona Ryder fucking a dog while singing Hinder’s “Lips Of An Angel”.” Unacceptable: “YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!!!!111″

2. Second, send me the link.

3. Third, do not, I repeat, do not pester me about looking at it. If I want to, I will, but chances are, even if it’s something that may interest me, I won’t. YouTube, to me, is the equivalent of the entire Internet doing their impression of my sister calling me on the phone because there’s something really fucking stupid on television, which she has done many, many times, and I’m kind of over it. It’s also a disruptive activity, where, despite being in a multitasking environment, you have to pay attention, and I hate those.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation, which saves me the trouble of tracking down a good source for fire ants in suppository form.

Silence

Posted in My Big, Black Cock. on May 14th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

I had all of my machines turned off for a few hours today.

The silence was absolutely gorgeous.

I need to come up with really efficient, cost-effective ways to keep my computers silent and cool. I’ve read up on some, just a matter of implementation, but I think it’s really a priority of the “quality of life” kind.

So, I’m thinking of releasing my demos…

Posted in My Big, Black Cock. on May 12th, 2008 by Scott Crawford

…just to get them all in one place, and to give those of you who buy music or would like to support me in making it (though I’m still on hiatus with all of that) an opportunity to do so in the manner of your choosing. I’d probably throw CDs on Lulu, and make it available on most of the download services (iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, etc.) as well. Tearfully, I regret to tell you that, at least on most of the tracks (I may do a freebie or three among the music that I recorded alone), I can’t “do a Radiohead” and go with the suggested donation model, as it’d be a pain in the ass to do the accounting on that, and I would like to give Kage his 15 cents a song or whatever it comes out to for the work he’s done on some of the songs. If you want to donate money along with buying the music, great (and if you want any of it to go to Kage, please specify that when you donate), but I have to make sure I’m covering my people, even if I can barely cover my own ass.

I’d probably put little to no work into cleaning up/mastering/refining what I have if I do it, just because I don’t want to drive myself nuts in front of pro audio software and “relive” all this music a million times right now, so they really would just be demo quality tracks that I will perhaps someday curse myself for making available (though some of them are floating around anyway…).

Your thoughts? Are enough of you interested in having this stuff to make it worth my while to go through all my archives, listen, tweak as little as possible, and release what’s as “finished” as it’s gotten so far?
